VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MANIFOLD
FUNCTION AND ADVANTAGE:
The POW-R-PORT provides an auxiliary intake valve, in series with the conventional intake valve, to supply the engine with increased volumetric efficiency through charge retention. Valve timing occurs through pressure differentials acting on the auxiliary valve, independent of the camshaft profile.
Typically, the intake valve opens before top dead center on the end of the exhaust stroke and ends after the piston is rising on the compression stroke. The timing of this determines the RPM at which optimum cylinder filling and subsequent torque will occur. Below this RPM, engine efficiency and torque will be diminished because there is contamination of the incoming charge at the beginning of the intake stroke and, most importantly, incoming charge is pushed out of the cylinder on the compression stroke. The auxiliary valve prevents this by only opening when there is a pressure depression in the cylinder ensuring charge retention and subsequent maximum torque.
Other advantages include rider benefits in the form of better start up performance. Faster acceleration and less frequent need to downshift are also provided due to the increase torque available below RPM dictated by the camshaft profile. A cam with increased valve open duration can also be used to extend the higher RPM performance of the engine, while improving the low RPM performance with the auxiliary valve.
The performance of a stock engine can be greatly improved below its design torque peak, and an engine with a higher speed cam design, can exceed the performance of a stock engine at both low and high speed operation.
Opening the intake passageway of an engine only when there is a pressure differential present between the inside and outside of the cylinder, results in a full cylinder and maximum torque. The greater the amount of charge trapped in the cylinder, the greater the amount of torque that can be generated.
The exclusive VVT manifold does this simply and effectively. Installing one will positively wake up your riding experience.
This is not just another manifold.
You cannot make full power without a full cylinder.
